[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”5931″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]This EP made me feel like sinking schooners with the boys in the vacuum of space. I first listened to Space Monk’s self-titled EP Space Monk in the car on a Friday afternoon. After a week of working in retail during Christmas preparations, it provided me with the perfect weekend transition vibes. A big weekend.

Listening to Space Monk had me feeling like I was floating through the stratosphere with the fellas from the band. As I listened to the tracks we chatted about beers, girls, pets and chips. Most importantly chips. Specifically Doritos. The EP just emanates a friendly sense of familiarity, like a buddy you haven’t seen for a year but pick up a conversation with in an instant.

Previously released singles Pub Lord and Fuzzy Heaven continue to entertain. The opening track Pub Lord is very sing-alongable and will absolutely have crowds swaying and jumping at live shows. Love’s Tussle was my favourite track on the EP, featuring some nice, raspy vocals, sexy bass, hot guitar licks and tight drums.

The lack of a Star Wars-themed jam was unfortunate given the upcoming Star Wars film release, referring back to the band’s 2016 single Chewbacca, but I was quickly appeased and satisfied by the cute love tune Smoochin’ On The Moon. The closest thing to a Star Wars track on the EP, this track was also the slowest and most soulful on the record in the best possible way.

In listening to Space Monk’s Space Monk again on Sunday afternoon, after a long weekend on the sauce I found it also perfectly suited my transition from weekend to another busy work week. As I spaced out on the couch I reflected on a weekend well spent and an EP worth vibing out to.[/vc_column_text][vc_text_separator title=”4/5″ color=”white” css_animation=”appear”][vc_column_text]Released: 17 November, 2017 via Independent[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”STREAM” style=”custom” custom_background=”#ff5ff3″ custom_text=”#000000″ shape=”square” size=”lg” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-apple” add_icon=”true” link=”||target:%20_blank|”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
